One Human Race

Ode to America, by Kristen Posey - Copyright July 2016:

Fellow Sisters and Brothers

Fathers and Mothers...

Black, white, brown, and blue

Christian, Atheist, Muslim, Mormon, Jew...

Independent, Libertarian, Republican, Democrat

Rich/Poor, tall/short, skinny/fat...

Regardless of the recent or long-ago year

That our respective ancestors migrated here...

Upper, lower, and middle classes

Addicted, healthy, sick, and “other-abled” masses...

Lesbian, Bi, Gay, Transgender, Queer, or Straight

Lead our world with love-not hate...

Young and old-look in our mirrors-let’s start there

Give it all we’ve got in our thoughts, actions, meditation, and prayer...

We are better than this-let us unite

Calling all peace-makers, love wins with light....

Be a part of positive, peaceful, and inclusive solutions

Education over fear-based prosecutions...

While embracing diversity and encouraging the will of anyone trying to succeed

Let us commit to lending a hand to neighbors in need..

Ensure indivisibility and justice for all

Together we shall rise, stagnate, or fall..

Honor intuitions imploring peace from all towers

As whispers to the heart and soul from a Higher Power...

Celebrate the many colors of the face

Let’s all join together as “One Human Race.”
